john dive art

showcasing works by john dive

Upon leaving school I went to University to study fine art but quickly became disillusioned when abstract was the direction all teaching headed towards. This wasn’t for me so I left University before graduating and joined a friend who was living in Jersey. I didn’t stay too long but unbeknown to me at the time this was the start of a lifelong love affair with this special island.

Drawing and painting have always been part of my life but strictly for pleasure as my professional life has kept me fully occupied.

the dense moss, rich with moisture, is a perfect growing medium for iceland’s many species of mushrooms. experienced mushroom hunters know to visit their favorite spots a few days after it rains to find the biggest variety.

I travel to Jersey regularly and base myself in the delightful Saint Aubin village.

In 2022 a chance discussion has enabled me to realise a dream that frankly I never knew I had. I guess I am an impressionist of sorts and want my paintings to portray the chosen subject.

If you are lucky enough to visit Jersey I recommend a visit to Jane James ceramics in Commercial St, St Helier, or her shop Costal at Gorey Harbour. My greeting cards are available to purchase along with a fantastic array of ceramics and gifts.
